What compressing FLAC actually does
Honest answer first: FLAC is already losslessly squeezed: think ZIP for sound: so a compressor can't make it much smaller without changing what it is. Flippy re-encodes at your chosen quality; for a dramatic cut, going lossy (MP3 or AAC) is the real lever, and we'll say so rather than pretend.

It depends on how generously it was encoded: FLAC typically runs around 5 MB per minute: half of WAV, five times an MP3, and most files give up 30–70% at the medium preset before quality visibly suffers.
Will I lose quality working with FLAC here?
